Being Consistent and Showing Up: It’s Not a Marathon

As I was sitting here wondering what today’s blog would be, I started reading FlyLady’s email for today. The topic: consistency and realizing it isn’t a marathon.

This was something I needed to read, and went right along with another message I was told, to make sure I give myself grace as I move forward.

It felt good to realize, it doesn’t have to be a long extended session, spent on a task, or in writing. Not to say, it’s not great to sit and work on my book for an hour or two, but that can feel pressure some to try and meet that quota ALL the time!

So day 3 of the intentionality and consistent building habit. And already God is reminding me: don’t put too much pressure on yourself. And I definitely needed to hear that. There is no goal mark or line to meet on a time scale, but simply that I’m showing up, and doing the work. Doing the writing, doing my list – being intentional and consistent. (and not forgetting to take some breaks for some fun, or some music!)

For the photo today, I thought of the scene I recently wrote in my 1980s book. In this scene the female character, who is a lawyer, is waiting to meet her potential client. Her blonde hair in a bun, wearing a pink business suit, with a briefcase.

I felt like this was a good image, of continuing to show up. Nicely dressed, pretty in pink, ready to do the work! 🙂

So let’s not burn ourselves out, let’s keep showing up and being consistent and intentional – doing the work – slow and steady always wins the race!

I’d love to hear where you are on your journey!
