I’m all caught up on the robo reader! All 135 pages! Woo-hoo! 🙂
I’m on Chapter 16, which I’ve titled “Face the Music”. This is a pivotal chapter for Jack, an important decision made that will impact the rest of his life and beyond. I realized as I was listening to the robo reader, and making some revisions, that Jack is dreaming and hoping again. After giving his life to Christ, he is seeing things with new and different eyes. And it scares him a little! Because it seems to come out of the blue!
I have experienced this, hopes and desires, that you didn’t know you had, and all of a sudden – wham! – there they are. I suspect we’ve always had them, but they are buried, for different reasons, we may learn at the time or realize.
One scene that I didn’t really touch at all, is Jack’s salvation scene. When I wrote that, I knew and could feel the Holy Spirit’s presence there, guiding me. So I am not really surprised that that scene needed no touching up. When HS gets involved, the scenes are always better! (Same goes for ideas too!)
In this chapter, a baby is left at Jack’s door, causing some hurt and misgivings between Jack and his wife, Valerie, especially when the mother of the baby is revealed.
What are the ways hopes and desires have made themselves known to you? And how do you incorporate those experiences in your writing (if you do)?
