I feel like I got in some good writing time today! 🙂
Valerie really missing Jack, and prayed about him being there, and not too long afterward, her prayers are answered. She begins to stonewall Jack and his romantic intentions with her: offering his arm, holding her hands when she says they’re cold, and abruptly excuses herself when he asks her to dance when the song he proposed to her is played by the band.
She has begun to think on being intimate with him, in a husband/wife manner, and is scared of making an emotionally charged decision, just like she had done on the camping trip when they were 17, and that changed their lives for forever. So out of her own fear, she’s acting this way, but it’s hurting him, and he doesn’t understand why the sudden shift.
Meanwhile, she is also playing matchmaker to Christie and Dave, and that hasn’t fully hit the fan (yet). Dave is creating walls and strongholds, that will actually just serve to make things harder on him in the long run. He’s licking his wounds after discovering, Ruby didn’t really love him, she just used him to try and further her career opportunities.
What miscommunications do your romantic leads have or will go through in your books?
