I spent about 57–58 minutes in my book tonight! (Oct. 26, 2025)
I was re-reading my recent type ups, tweaking some things to make it flow/sound better.
But I’m really pleased with what I added during a flashback scene with Poe & Jack. The scene which sets in motion, Jack returning to Valerie. I feel it makes this scene even stronger, while tugging at your heartstrings and emotions, because it gives another glimpse into Jack’s brokenness, and how he hid behind the facade of sex and drugs to cover his grief and real emotions, his true self.
I think in this scene we see a glimpse of the real Jack. The Jack is who hurting, grieving, vulnerable.
Writing the scenes with “old / pre-saved” Jack is hard at times for me, because that Jack was doing a lot of bad things to cover up his true self; to keep from feeling he created a fake identity, burying his true self. In this scene, you see his true self briefly emerge, in an emotional breakdown because of the weight and conviction of his choices. His choices didn’t just affect him, and Poe is a big choice he made that will come into play more in book 2.
I thought I’d include a photo of my writing setup for tonight.
My MacBook Air 2020, which I don’t always use for typing it up, although my primary purpose for this laptop purchase was to be a focused/dedicated writing machine! And I think a goal of mine will be to be more dedicated to using it for this task. It’s a great little laptop, with a beautiful screen and sound on it. I noticed my eyes didn’t bother me when I used it, and I have noticed in general my eyes don’t bother me when I’m typing up my book… I don’t believe that’s coincidence, either!
If you’re looking for some good deals on MacBooks, I’d recommend BH Photo & Video (I am not sponsored by them). I purchased this one from them, when it was a previous model (in 2022 and mine is the 2020 M1 model), so I do believe it was on sale from original price.
Very grateful tonight for my gold MacBook Air! 🙂
And without further ado, here is the photo:

What writing tool are you grateful for? I’d love to hear how you decided on it, or a great deal you found on it! 🙂
