I’m on chapter 23 of my book, a scene I’ve had in mind and knew I wanted to do for a while now.
Jack and Holly had a beautiful heart-to-heart, and she knows the truth of his struggles with drugs. Now they’re going to a big dance, and what they don’t know (yet) is Valerie is there! I want to make this scene another turning point in their relationship and reconciliation for them, and it’s mutual, they are both feeling it and discovering it.
Dave is also battling his own emotions and attractions to Christie. She is so different from Ruby, Christie is honest and beautiful beyond the outward and Dave sees that in her, but he knows he’s just scratching the surface of that. He also doesn’t have much experience with women, so he kind of bungles things and gets nervous, so things don’t come out the way he means them too. Ruby was quite forthright and very clear on her terms, but used Dave to her career advantages, not truly in love with him. Dave wants to be distant with Christie, but it is hard for him, she finds a way past his armor at times, and he doesn’t know what to do with that, or how to stop it. He’s afraid of being used and hurt again, is part of it, the other part of it, is his unborn child.
What are scenes you’ve always known you wanted to write? It’s so exciting when you’re actually there at the scene you’ve imagined for so long! 🙂
And the song inspiring the title of this blog & chapter! 🙂
